On a crisp Saturday in March, we were nice and warm inside Roger Williams Botanical Garden in Providence, Rhode Island, flowering a wedding for Lena and Mike, while being surrounded by so many beautiful plants and flowers.

It has always been a dream of mine to do a wedding at a botanical garden - combining my love of floral design with my other love of plants, trees, and all things in nature. That dream came true this March in Rhode Island.

The floral design inspirations for this Roger Williams Botanical Garden wedding was "A Night at the Hanging Gardens of Babylon" - creating lush floral elements and installations based on one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient Worlds. We had a lot of opportunities to elevate the already lush and beautiful environment that we were in, so we used elements like a golden arch frame (an arch rental from Uniquely Chic Vintage Rentals) as the backdrop to the ceremony.

The floral installation of the golden framed arbor was done onsite, using a #foamfreefloraldesign technique with chicken wire and OshunPouch. The arbor was filled with tropical greenery, ferns, peach toned statice, toffee roses, playa blanca roses, white thistle, dianthus 'green trick' and quicksand roses.

The floral installation blended in perfectly with the beautiful palms, monstera plants, and ferns that stood behind the golden frame making the piece look like it was always meant to be in this botanical garden!

Moving from the ceremony space in the front room of the garden, the reception took place just a walk over in the conservatory, next to a beautiful coy fish pond.

The reception space was transformed with round tables covered in white linens with gold napkins and silverware. Similar to our design ideas with the arch, we wanted to compliment the gardens by using terrariums with moss, succulents, and plant-like florals that would match the surroundings.

We filled these golden terrariums (a rental from Uniquely Chic Rentals) with sheet moss, white lisianthus, peach statice, and playa blanca roses. The terrarium was placed on a bed of moss with pops of succulents surrounding the terrarium - the succulents were also used as wedding favors at the end of the night, where the guests could bring these home and put them in some soil to have them grow!

We loved being able to incorporate both plant and floral elements into this wedding at the Roger Williams Botanical Garden. From the succulents, to the moss and ferns, we think the floral elements complimented the space and truly brought the vision of "A Night at the Hanging Gardens of Babylon" to life.

Thank you to Lena & Mike for allowing us to be a part of your special day! And a huge shout out to the all star team of vendors that we were so lucky to work with!
